T1400

Hi,recently acquired a t1400. Finally got it running and decided to give it a try,went forward OK but won't reverse. It tried for while but gave up.Any ideas please?

since it's almost 30 years old, I suspect the linkages between pedal and HST are worn and need adjustment.
