I have a new L2501 and have put on 40 hrs. I notice the step has already shown signs of wear as it has worn to the primer color, also scratches on the floor board or hump. I know it is a tractor and not my first but has anyone have a idea they have used to protect these from the wear that we put on them? Thanks Terry

Like TripleR said, spray on truck bed liner works great. My L3301 is a year and a half old now and the bedliner on my step and floorboards is hanging tough.

I really like this idea. Just need to color match it though. Might try doing this to my l3901 but painting it afterwards.
The contrast provided by the bedliner on the floor actually looks pretty sharp. Before I did it, I wasn't sure how it would look. At that time, I was more concerned with function than form but ended up being pleasantly surprised.

As far as painting the bedliner goes, wouldn't that kind of negate the point of doing it in the first place? Instead of primer showing through as in the OP's case, one would now have bedliner showing through. Aesthetically, kind of a similar nasty look.

Spray on bedliner can be tinted prior to application. It's not a perfect color match, but it does get you in the right direction. I thought about doing color matched bed liner on my new truck, but ended up going with plain black and I'm glad I did. The contrast means that no matter how much the paint or the bed liner fades, it never looks mismatched. It also means touch-ups in a few years will be easier without redoing the whole area.

Obviously the OEM paint will look real bad after 100 hours or more when the tractor is just maybe starting to get brook in. The idea of spray on bed liner that is made to with stand abuse holds some hope for the wear of this part. Maybe respray the bed liner after awhile. as apposed to spraying on OEM Kubota paint when needed, which could only be at the time of sale. But think about it, why does you car or truck have carpet or vinyl and you purchase protection for those which can be very costly?

I'm a weekender, and unfortunately, even though I have seed to get in for about 10 acres of food plots (bird and deer), the rain is keeping me out of the fields. So...my weekends are being filled with tractor enhancements.

A couple of weekends ago I installed the ROPS Light kit - great value by the way - and this weekend I will be doing the floor and step of my MX with bedliner.

I just grabbed a quart of the Rustoleum roll-in bedliner along with some acetone from Home Depot. Figure for $30 in materials it is hard to go wrong, and should be a good rainy weekend project since I won't be in a hurry for it to dry.

Also, while I am at it, I may do pivot arm (I guess that is what I would call it) of FEL. Since I use fuel cans to fill with diesel, I end up standing on the "arm" with one foot, with the other on the floor board, when filling. Guessing over time my boots will wear that paint, so maybe while I am at it, I can kill that bird as well.

I'm going to try and post photos. Hope it works.

Here are pics of my project. Cleaned areas, sanded with 150 grit to rough paint, wiped with acetone, taped with blue tape, then applied 3 coats of Bedliner to even out a bit. Shiny in photos, but was still wet. Did the floor, then step, and the FEL arm I use as step when fueling. I did in barn in evening, and in light I found a spot I missed, and a place where I need to clean bedliner from paint, but overall pretty happy.

Prep and painting probably took an hour of actual work, with several hours of drying between.
