I'm getting ready to do the 500hr maintenance on my skid, I can't find Kubota 46hd oil local and will have to order it. I can't see a reason to use it in the chain case over any other premium 46 oil. I do have 5 gallons I keep on hand for top offs of the hydraulic system but not enough for the chain case. My question is, the oils just lubricant for the chains, is it vital to use Kubota oil there as well?

Also, this is what it lists for capacity-

28.0 L each (7.4 US gal. each)

Is that saying 7.4 gallons per side?

Thanks

Yes, it is 7.4 gallons per side. Make sure the oil is AW 46HD, not regular AW46 fluid or you could have chain and hyd pump failures.

Thanks for the reply. It's been pretty wet here and I was actually going to do the maintenance today, if I'm reading your reply correctly, you think I need hd in the chain baths? For the hydraulic system, I'll only use the Kubota specified oil.

As per Kubota, " AW46 should not be used in the chain cases, only use AW46HD"
