Hello,
I purchased a new RTVx900, and am reasonably happy with it's performance. Only issue that I'm experiencing is that, in deep mud...and uphill, the engine actually bogs down and starts to stall, only cure is to back off the throttle and reapply and it helps, a little.
I had a sticky shifter as well, but adjusting the brake pedal actuated HST unloader valve helped that issue a lot. Interestingly, my dealer had told me to "just give it some time to break in" when the shifter stuck, in the parking lot, while I was trying to load the unit from the Kubota dealer.
I have found a couple of threads out on the net that say the HST should allow the engine to stay at peak horsepower and not bog down. I'm curious if any of you have experience adjusting the HST on your tractors and can educate me a little on what the proper way to set up the HST and throttle linkages on the RTVx might be.
I would also like to learn how to adjust the release valve so that when the throttle is released the HST braking isn't so abrupt.
Any RTV gurus on here please teach me.

Work safe, have fun,
Long Gone

Other than your release valve for the hst needing adjustment it sounds like yours is operating the way it should. It is not a cvt where it adjusts itself to the torque applied. As for breaking, it is driving technique that you need to learn. Once you get on to it you will like it. Think of the throttle peddle as both the throttle and brake all in one. As you reduce the throttle just do it in small increments than you normally would.

As far as the engine bogging down I don't what what your dealer is talking about an hst system under load such as climbing a hill in a high gear will most definitely bog your engine down even to the point of possibly stalling if you push it hard enough.

When it bogs you either need to lower the range or back off the skinny pedal and let the engine pick back up. The worst thing you could do for the hst is push it even harder when it starts bogging.
