RTV-x900 charging issue

so I have a rtv-x900, gauge cluster has an error 1 flashing, the battery light comes on intermittently,
I have tried swapping out the alternator, cleaned all ground connections, swapped out the gauge cluster and ignition switch, checked all the fuses and relays....
anyone have an idea???

sorry forgot to mention i also tested the battery and i did check all the cables they read 0.5 ohms, battery checked out good on the battery tester.

Cables are no good ! Too high in resistance. V=I * R , say starter draws 50 amps 50 * .5= 25 volts dropped. Actually starters can require 100-300 amps, I used 50 just to show the math of what happens.

However, did you short out the DMM leads BEFORE taking the reading ? Usually they'll read a small value, which has to be subtracted from the real reading. In the good old days, you 'zeroed' the meter movement. today you have to do 'math'.
You've got to pay big to get a DMM that'll read very low ohms or make your own.

If there is ANY sign of corrosion, the cable is probably bad, especially if unsealed. Once a drop or two of water gets onto the copper cable, it WILL start to corrode. Water 'wicks' in between the strands ,copper turns 'pretty green' and won't pass the current. Any cable over 5 years in a 'dirty' environment,should be replaced.
