I'm buying an L3800 and trying to decide on a cutter. The dealer is recommending a 66" cutter. It looks like the tractor is 55" wide at the wheels. It seems to me a 60" would be ok. Is a 60" to close along a fence line, sticking out only 2-1/2" a side? It's about another $500 to go from 60 to 66. Is the extra width worth it? Land Pride RCR1260 or 1272.

I've got an L3800 with R4 tires and the LP RCR1260. Mine also has the FEL with 66" QA bucket, so I can't run along a fence line. I didn't really think about that when specing it all out, but I don't have much fence to bush hog along so it's not that big a deal to me.

I'm looking at adding 3" wheel spacers on the rear for more stability mowing on slopes, so bringing the rear out to match the bucket wil help me judge my distance better and keep the bucket out of the fence. I have the LP FDR 72" finish mower as well so once I get the fence line in shape I could just use it there I guess.

That is the same FEL I was getting. So I guess if you go 66" on the bucket you have to go with the larger cutter or you run into the same issue along a fence line. Can you get the 60" FEL with QR? I think your going to max out the 60" bucket anyways with a #900 capacity.

L3800 w/ R4s here, I take the FEL off when using the 1860....it's sooo much easier.

Takes about 3 minutes to pull the loader off, but it really makes mowing much easier.
