Ripper for B2650 with BH77

I have been looking at picking up either the Bro-Tek Ripper or the BXpanded Talon Ripper. I can't really decide between them.

The Bro-Tek appears to have the ability to add on a trencher shield and overall seems to be geared more toward trenching than stump removal. I have a bunch of stumps that need to be removed and heavy clay throughout my property. From the very few pictures I could dig up on the Bro-Tek it seems to be ideal for putting in electrical cable or sprinkler lines but possibly not as good as for stump removal.

The BXpanded ripper appears to be more of a saw that would (as the name implies) rip through the roots. However I don't know the specs on it such as size. Although it is useable on the BH77 is it going to be too small to do the job?

I saw that Michigan Iron makes a ripper but it seems too long and heavy for the BH77.

I have a ripper from Michigan Iron for my BH 65 and now I am going to use it on my BH 77. I didn't think it was too big for the BH 65 so I'm sure it will be fine for the BH 77. I plan to put it on in a couple of weeks.

I am sure any ripper you get will work well, I have to say having the BX Talon it really works well. The serrated edge helps to saw through bigger roots and just tears apart the small ones. I would guess the Talon reduces the amount of time on a stump by more than 50%.

I have a ripper from Michigan Iron for my BH 65 and now I am going to use it on my BH 77. I didn't think it was too big for the BH 65 so I'm sure it will be fine for the BH 77. I plan to put it on in a couple of weeks.

No kidding? Looking at it it seemed that since it is longer than the other ones it would require you to get much closer to the stump than the other ones to get leverage. Could I bother you for a picture or two? The one tiny picture on the site doesn't really show much and I have had no luck finding any on google. The thing that has been concerning me about the Bro-tek is the plate behind the blade of the ripper. It seems like it would get hung up on the roots. Does the Michigan Iron have the same sort of thing?

That's exactly what I was thinking, it seems for stump removal it would be great. My main concern is it might be too small since it is made for the smaller backhoe on the BX? Why are specs so hard to come by on these attachments?!

Do you know if there is a way to speed up the BH77 controls? I run my idle at 2200RPM. I was wondering if you can adjust the valves. Seems like I have to pull the levers way to far over to make it curl.

I will try to take a picture tomorrow. I think I got the first one they made for the Bh65. This one doesn't have the serrated edge.

That looks really heavy duty! I can see how they justify the price. The pictures they have on their site make it look like it would be much longer. I imagine that this would hold up really well to heavy (ab)use picking rocks and stumps.

This looks really slick. The serrations are really nice. They aren't taken to a point at all are they? I could see that being a wear issue if they are. I bet it slices through roots well.

Seems to hold up very well, not sharp like a knife but goes through the roots way better than the bucket. I would guess the Talon for the larger BH would be longer, on the BX it is perfect. From talking with Harry it has been well tested and refined.
