Hello, I have an RTV 900 xt and it seems like the rear axle lock is stuck in the engage position even though the foot bar seems to be up and in what would normally be the disengaged position. The vehicle acts like the axle is locked...rear wheels want to spin at the same rate causing a drag on one of the wheels. Is there a specific way to disengage the rear axle lock?
Thanks for any help!

I do not know if this will help, but the owners manual for my L3000DT says if diff lock is not releasing to step lightly on the brake pedals alternately. I guess your RTV 900 has only one brake pedal. But worth a try.

On my L3000 you can see where the shaft enters the housing. One of the local dealer mechanics told me if diff lock is not used often this shaft can get a little rusty and lock up. He suggested if that happens to spray the shaft with some WD40.

There is a lot of knowledgeable folks on this site, much more so than myself. Hopefully someone with some experience with a RTV 900 will chime in soon.

I would trace the lever back to the axle housing and manually try to rotate it an see if that does the trick. By following the linkage, you might discover a break in the linkage. Be carefull to use care rotating the shaft at the axle. It should operate quite easily and if its rusted or stuck somehow, using excessive force could break it. Spray WD40 on the shaft as well.

The one on my B7200 use to stick because it didn't get used much before I was old enough to run it. It use to stick were it enters the housing, I just sprayed it and tapped it lightly back and fourth with a hammer and starting using it. it's been fine ever since.

I believe it has a spring, ball and hole for a detent right where the shaft enters the case. My 5200 was doing this and I just saturated it in WD and kept trying to move it. Now it works great.
