My old 2380 had turf tires as I thought would be better for my lawn mowing needs. We have mainly sandy soil so the turf is more on the loose side and at times when making turns the turf tires kind of tore up the grass. Yesterday was the first mow with my new 2380 that has R4 tires, and I was pleasantly surprised to see they didn't tear things up. I was afraid that the more aggressive tread would do damage. I'm a believer now.

No lawn to mow. But similar feelings. Had ag tires on the compact NH. Sandy and soft soil. Gravel driveway. R4 leave at most just a tire impression. Traction seems fine. Hit a muddy area and tires were sunk to almost the rims. No issue with traction to get through the muck. The R1 tires were ok in some snow conditions most the times I regret not having chains. Guessing the same for the R4s. Thinking studs. The BX on the starboard side has only about an 1" of clearance between the tire and looks like a shield plate for the control units . Hope initial was the R4s would have mover clearance than the R1s did on the NH. Same issue. Do have 2" spacers on the wheels. Love those old Fords with the huge open flair fenders. No clearance issues. My old neighbor was into restoring them. His wife only allowed two in the machine shed. He brought home a 3rd one day without permission and had to sell one of the two restored Fords.
