I have been looking at the John Deere one series with auto connect mid mount mower and also the I match three point quick connect. Does kubota offer something like that. How good does the kubota 60 inch mid mount mower cut. Does it throw the clippings a good distance. Does the deck clog when cutting less than dry grass. I mow around three acres. I use a zero turn and my l3700su with a 72 inch rear mower. I don't like the rear discharge throw of the three point mower. I mow at 3-4 inches depending on how dry the summer is. My grass is pretty thick and I mow once per week generally if it hasn't rained a lot. Is the mower for these tractors pretty robust.

I like orange so I would like to check out my options.

Thanks.

I have the 54" deck on my BX1870 and am pleased with the cut set at 4". I haven't yet removed / reinstalled my deck, but after dealing with the mule and belt of my former JD318, it should be a breeze.

I have a bx2370-1 with the 60 inch deck. Not the newer quick connect drive over type. It does ok for cutting and not a great distance to throw it. Tall tall grass it cuts but it packs it up. Amazing it will cut it but that's been good luck so far. Engine does bog down some. So small chunks and blow it out of way. Could lift up the blower flap Un safely but not chanceing it.

How tall is the grass and how thick is it when it bogs down a little.
I have actually removed my rubber shoot from my zero turn. I have a bracket installed on the deck where I attach my cyclone rake power bagger. I don't always use the bagger. I know my yard well and I live in the country so not having the safety shoot on is not an issue for me. I don't blow grass towards people, cars or the house. It concernes me a little if this tractor bogs down a little with the 60 inch deck. I think your model is comparable to the jd 1025r.

When it bogged down the grass was thick and about 8 inches tall in 1 spot. Rest of yard is fine to cut and spreads it out easy 3' out the chute. I don't have a bagger on mine. Not sure compared to a jr 1025 r as I never looked at one since seeing the dealer and being told he only supported those that brought from him when local Lowes started carrying mowers. Plus he never had any newer models in stock. His stock was a few years old on lot. Our other lawn mower is a 45" cub cadet to cover where the kubota cannot go due to ROPS being in way to hit low tree limbs and patio porch.

We have a BX2200 and BX2660 with 60" decks and both are good performers, we don't use high lift blades, both cut higher grass than I would have imagined.

We just traded our John Deere 2305 with 62" deck on a new John Deere 1025R with 60" auto connect deck, we really can't sat the JD or Kubota are better than the other, both do a good job. We use the 1025 as a mower, so the auto connect deck hasn't been tried. My sons never had issues manually removing installing decks on any of them. For folks my age and no help close by the auto connect on the new BX and JD should be great.

There are You Tube videos on both.

The "folks my age" part is kind of what I'm looking at. I think at my age it's time to look closely at the auto connect. Is the kubota just drive over or is it auto connect. On the jd site some of the folks complain about the auto connect deck for one reason or another. I know kubota tractors are very robust but I like the looks of the 7iron john Deere deck also.

Auto connect: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBtr9M5xNDo

Also: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/kubota-buying-pricing/324201-bx-auto-connect-deck.html

Our observations so far is the JD rides smoother, but JD isn't as stable, we really like position control on the 1025R.

I solved the age thing on my Kubotas by having two, one to mow and another for everything else, even easier than auro connect.:)

Thanks for sharing the links. I saw the YouTube video last night. Looks like he is still doing several things by hand. When I get ready I will talk to the kubota dealer again.

The wife wouldn't stand for two tractors around here. Lol

Yeah, you have to put the ramps down then back up and flip some levers, JD seems less involved.

I'm fortunate my wife uses both BXs and I use the others, so it's a win win. I once suggeted selling a BX since we had two, but I quickly changed my mind.

And everyone is setup incorrectly from the dealer. Those who have properly setup decks (either from the dealer or they do it themselves with the info in the GTT sticky thread) loves the way they work.

That's what it seems like but it also seems like there must be more than necessary involved to get a deck to hang level and have the deck hanging hardware in the proper place to get it to auto connect. Most of my property is relatively flat except for the shallow ditch along the road. I could care less if the low side of the deck droops a little while I mow the ditch. Otherwise I'm pretty interested in the jd auto connect. I'm fond of kubota so I will see what they have at my local dealer. I saw landpride has a three point hitch similar to the jd imatch. I'll check that out too.

If you haven't pulled the trigger yet...

that is my video of the quick connect deck. I'm a bit more comfortable with the process and it all goes very smoothly now.

I ordered my BX with the quick connect mower deck sight unseen and without a demo or anything because nobody had really seen it yet (for the BX series). For my uses I knew I would be removing the deck fairly often so I wanted any form of simplification. Mission accomplished - and I'm very happy with the purchase.

The more difficult steps of sliding the deck under the tractor, lining things up, and connecting the PTO are avoided. It's really just "busy work" sliding the ramps and securing them that adds up to an extra minute or so versus the JD.

Hope that helps in your decision

Nick
