I'm almost ready to split my newly acquired L295DT for clutch replacement. Does anyone know how to disconnect the propeller shaft? Do I merely disconnect the propeller shaft cover from the drivecase and the shaft pulls out with the front end of the tractor, or is there more to it?

I-T Manual is pretty good with most service needs, but doesn't give any detail on this, and I can't figure it out from the parts diagram. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Vic. I'll give it a try.

I'm assuming I can just release the shaft at the drive case end, so it pulls out with the front off the tractor?

OK Vic, now I got it figured out. The two piece driveshaft cover was frozen together as though it was one piece. Once I got that freed up, everything you said made sense.

If anyone else finds this thread by searching, the L295DT has a two-piece telescoping cover over the front driveshaft. By disconnecting the cover mounting screws (two at rear, and one more near at the rear end of the front tube) you can cause the tubes to slide together revealing the splined coupler at either end of the driveshaft. Circlips hold the couplers in place. I had to use penetrating fluid and heat to get my tubes to slide together. The rest is easy with right angle circlip pliers. No need to open the drivecase.

Thanks for the help Vic. You got me on the right track.
