I have a 2020 model L2501 that I bought with 98 hours on it. The tractor now has 278 hours. Ever since I bought it, I have noticed that if the 3 point is in the fully lifted position that the front bucket will barely operate. I can lower the 3 point an inch or two and the front bucket works fine. A few months ago, I began to notice that the front bucket was not lifting as much weight as normal. It has now gotten to where it will barely lift the bucket with 100 pounds of weight in it. All the functions ( up, down, curl, dump ) works like they are supposed to- maybe just a little slower than it used to. I have unhooked all the hydraulic hoses and reconnected at the joystick control box. I have changed the Hydro fluid and filter. I have bled the system by opening fittings at the bucket, etc. Does this sound like a bad hydraulic pump?? Maybe a bad control valve at the joy stick? Any suggestions appreciated. A control valve is $1160 just for the part and the pump is around $400. Thanks

Not familiar with your tractor. Does your control valve have a return line ? If so then I would try loosening line and see if fluid is bypassing whichever function your trying to ck . If bypassing is it possible to disassemble and inspect seals and possibly repair ? Or taking hose loose at bucket and cking pressure .

Here is what I think has been happening in your description of the past performance.

When the three point hitch is raised or lowered there is a feedback to the position valve that tells the tractor to maintain the position. If there is movement the tractor automatically adjusts to get back into the same position. Now if that feedback mechanism is improperly adjusted the small lift arms go so high the hit a mechanical stop and the relief valve in the three point hitch is activated (a squealing sound starts). The hydraulic flow is basically open to the transmission sump. If you then try to use the FEL valve it is unable to divert oil and pressure to the cylinder (easily) so it moves slower and can’t lift as much as normal.

There is also a relief valve in the FEL valve that may be set too high and that activates the 3PH relief valve frequently, but that just limits the amount of pressure that the FEL can lift.

So I think that now you should start by finding the feedback mechanism that should be attached to tabs on the small upper arms and other end at the tractor case. Then adjust it properly to see if that fixes your past and current problems both.

For your current situation it sounds like one or both of the relief valves are going into a bypass situation and dumping fluid that you are trying to use at too low of a pressure. Could be a broken spring or something caught in the seat of the valve.

I‘ll try to find a link to a similar problem that shows the adjustment

^^ Bypassing through a relief valve was my first thought also.

The only thing wrong is the adjustment on the 3pt feedback linkage. It costs ZERO and takes 5 minutes to adjust. Read your operators manual.
