Just bought this tractor after putting my Gravely up for adoption-- sob, sob.
I'm a decent wrench and bought a workshop manual to help me understand the throttle controls-- and still am flummuxed! I can adjust the throttle cable to give me idle and full throttle/no choke or no idle and good choke. The throttle lever needs to travel almost to the "rabbit" before the nylon cams are in contact with it!???
What am I missing? (The Gravely was so simple)
Thanks

I'm not intimately familiar with your machine but perhaps this insight may assist.

You reference a Gravely so perhaps this is basically a mower.

We've got a big commercial ZTR mower with a 27-hp Kohler. The throttle control has the usual rabbit-turtle markings and has a travel slot of maybe three inches. BUT...the throttle settings seem to have two positions: idle and wide open, with no effective setting between the two extremes. The choke is an independent knob.

I called the mfgr engineering TechRep at factory and was told that due to the engine being designed to run the hydraulics continuously they set it up to run wide open all the time. When parking it I'll run at idle to back into a slot---the knob is all the way to turtle. With the slightest bump off idle stop it's back to wide open.

With all this said, I'm curious. Please post back your findings and what you learn so we may all look over your shoulder.

I too am a huge Gravely fan!

Your tractor has what Kubota refers to as Auto Throttle. I'm guessing it's fully governor controlled but don't know for certain.

I was trying to find a copy of the owner's manual to read how it works but I was unsuccessful. However, I did find one comment from a guy selling one that might give a little more insight:

"The auto throttle unit has helped many of my customers as it will increase throttle when you turn on the deck or push down on the hydro pedal."

It might be worth a trip to you local Kubota dealer to chat with one of the mechanics in the service department. Perhaps they'll share enough info to give you an idea of how to adjust it.

Please share what you learn so we'll all know.

Thanks,

Steve
