New to me L285 - What Transmission Oil ?

Hi Everybody,

This is my first post here. I recently purchased a L285 which seems to be in fairly good condition.

I am in the process of changing out fluids and doing other general upkeep.

I have an owners manual and it clearly states to use 80W gear oil in the transmission. However, I've seen some posts here that indicate Universal Tractor fluid should be used.

Can you set me straight on what I should fill my Tranny/Hydraulic system with ?

If you have any other general suggestions for my L285 I would love to hear them.

You can basically use whatever you prefer. UDT or some universal tractor fluid from a place like tractor supply will be fine. These will work better than the 80W
