Hey folks! I currently operate a pressure washing business in Florida. These 40 hp Kohler and Vanguard engines are not getting any cheaper and they only last a few years. Right now you can pick one up for $3-4k, and I’m limited to roughly a 15gpm pump at 2400 psi.

I am eyeballing some Kubota engines, more specifically the V2403 and V3800. Little did I know these little engines are regulated by the EPA just like the new diesel trucks. So all the emissions from the trucks carry on to these tiny engines.

The issue I think I am going to run into is the engine might be on for 20 minutes here, 30 minutes there maybe 10 minutes here, 60 there etc. I know this will cause issues with the DPF filter just like it would in the truck.

I did find an engine that would fit my needs, but unfortunately it’s located overseas and I don’t think customs is going to give it the stamp of approval since it’s a 2024 model, but it has no emissions.

Based on my needs, do you guys know of any options that might suit me?

pictures below is the engine I’m looking at, but like I said above, I’m not sure if customs will allow this into the US lol.

Would it make sense to switch to an automobile gasoline engine, such as GM "Iron Duke" 4 cylinder engines? It would eliminate the short run issue of diesel but possibly increase fuel consumption.
