The background of this is the fact that I’m 82 years old, with lung disease and I had reached the point that I couldn’t hook up any equipment requiring a PTO hook up.
This is not my fabrication project, with the exception of changing out the top part to a single roller.
Out of desperation I bought one of the Greenlee 687 telescoping reel stand as an open box item from eBay…….new price is about $320.00. I thought perhaps some of the folks on the fab site might find this not only useful but could fab one up cheaper and lighter (they weigh 22 lbs as they are designed to be used in pairs to unroll heavy cable).
FWIW, I back up my tractor align the tractor arms with the brush hog mounting holes, pull forward a few inches and drop the arms to the ground. This gives me room to get the Greenlee 687 in place and hook up the PTO shaft…….then remove the Greenlee, and connect arms to equipment.
