Just brought it at auction, as is.. The clutch/transmission will not allow me to put the second lever in gear. Acts like clutch is not releasing. Checked linkage, all good.. didn't have much toe play in pedal added some travel but still not releasing. Doesn't matter if the range or speed is the second lever to be engaged.

any advice???

This is my first "Orange", hope I didn't make mistake!!

I am assuming this is a DT? If so shut the engine off, get some help if needed, put both gear and range sticks in gear, then rock the tractor forward and backward then whilst rocking the tractor depress the clutch pedal it should roll much further than when locked up. If not, then yes the clutch is not releasing and you need to split the tractor.

Since it was auction unit I would assume it was setting for a while? I believe that the disc has rusted itself to the flywheel!

Might not have to split it. You can break the clutch loose a couple ways. I'm sure Wolfman will be along to tell you how.

There should be a hook next to the clutch pedal. It's purpose is to keep the clutch separated when the tractor is idle (not being used). If there isn't, get a wood block and wedge it between the pedal so the pedal stays down (clutch disengaged.)

There should also be a drain plug on the case (at the bell housing), that is to drain any water that may accumulate in there.

I'd suggest getting a Workshop Manual or at least an owners manual and read it. It will explain what I posted above....
