Hi,
My hydraulics on the B7100D seem to be getting slower. Before I check the intake filter and change the oil I thought it might be interesting to check the flow rate before and after just in case it isn't a blocked filter.
What I had in mind was to disconnect the hydraulic return from the FEL and catch the oil in a bucket and check the time it takes to pump say 5 litres (one gallon) with the motor running. Anyone done this? Will the return pressure make this idea a non starter? How many litres (gallons) per minute approximately should it be? Anyone got a better idea how to check the flow rate?
Regards,
Dennis

Great timing! this is aceactly the point I am it in my B7100 project thread. I thought too about capturing the low pressure return line. But I think it's cleaner and easier to time how long it takes your bucket cylinders to go from complete retracted to completey extended. Then all you need to do is figure the area of your cylinder and multiply it by the length of the cylinder stroke. Convert the to gallons.

I like this way because yo can do it 5 or 6 tomes in a matter of 2 minutes and then take an average.

Dusty-t just told told me our tractors flow at 5.6 GPM

I like your way Greg. Much simpler and darn sight less messy! I'll try it and see how it compares before and after.
