All,
Just sharing/bragging/being prideful.
Part # 67111-53520 from Kubota is described as a NET RADIATOR.
It lists for $63.72, plus what I am sure is at least another $12.00 worth of shipping, so rather than spend the money, I made my own.
The screen is the red circled item in the first picture labeled 180.
You can kind of see the condition of mine if picture two. I reused the top piece of angle.
The screen was something like $10.00 off of Amazon, and the edge around the screen was about $5.00 from Lowes (See picture 3).
I put the top angle portion of the old screen in a vise,
cold chiseled the spot welds free,
ground the top angle piece clean with my bench grinder ,
had a flake hit me in the forehead and burn me (damn it!).
Then I cut the screen to the right size,
banged the strip of metal into a "V",
trimmed the metal to the right thickness and length,
Then banged the "V" closed on the edges.
One this was done, I spot welded the edges at each corner,
(Spot welder was a $40 dollar find at an auction)
Then spot welded along all the edges.
The middle strip was just cut offs from the metal strip from Lowes.
Put one on either side,
tucked them in at the top and the bottom,
and spot welded them top and bottom, and through/to the screen.
When that was all done, I spot welded it all to the top angle piece I had saved from the old screen.
Then I filed any sharp edges, and painted it (See last two pictures).
So all in all it cost me about $15.00 to make, took about 3 hours in the Texas heat (102 degrees that day).
If I ignore my time value, I feel like I screwed "The Man" out of $63.72 plus shipping!
However, don't fear for "The Man", as he has gotten more than his fair share in resurrecting this abused old tractor.
