In other words, I know, the M9540 is a fine machine, but does anyone have experience with the newer models with regen and DPF. Any regrets buying one? Should I stick with the 9540? Thanks.
A DPF is a diesel particulate filter that is now found on most diesel powered machinery over 25hp. The DPF collects soot and occasionally has to be cleaned, which is known as a regen.
Okay fellers, lets clear up some critical errors here!
The M5-111 runs DPF and DEF. The explanation above on how DPF is correct but the statement of 25 horse is incorrect it is 27. The B series 26 HP have no DPF system.
DEF is a fluid and has another tank to fill. The system works by misting the exhaust with urea. This combo is tier 5 emissions.
Thanks for clearing that up. Any opinions on whether or not you would go with a used model without dpf, Def etc. Or roll the dice on the new model for just a few thousand dollars more?
Ford DEF tanks have heaters and cycle to clear the lines on shut off. Although I don't know the freeze point of DEF I do know these trucks are used in the Canadian plains.
We ended up buying the M5-111. Of course we haven't had it long enough to know if there will be any issues, but thus far it is a Cadillac compared to our old new hollands.
