Hello again everyone, I am about to replace the front pinion bearing on my M5700 4 wheel drive cab tractor and was wondering how much of a pain it is going to be. Do the shims just go back in the same order they come out? The wonderful service lady at out local Kubota dealer has given me the diagram for the pinion and three bearings. Does the pinion have to be set with preload or just shimmed? I found this problem because I broke the right front axel off, when I took the axel off the gear oil looked like metal flake paint it had so much shaving in it. The pinion gear is fine but was rough when turned by hand. I took the left side off to check if it had metal in it and there was very little there. Going to change the pinion bearing on it as well just to make sure all is well. I broke the axle by pushing on a brush pile with the tires turned all the way to the left and the bucket loaded and the right front tire was dropped down in a hole. Just drove right over the tire, learned a big lesson there. Thanks for any info, I would also like to find a service manual for this tractor too, can they be bought for the dealer?
Thanks for any help, Jay
