Was bush hogging the other day and ran over a ratchet strap that was left in the grass. Definitely not my ratchet strap so suspect it was the neighbors as it was on the common fence line.

Managed to disengage the PTO and all and cleared the strap out of the machine. Upon restart it was dead. No clicking but lights on the dash do light up. I have had this issue in the past and thought I narrowed it down to a seat safety switch and or starter relay. Well checking all those seemed to indicate they were OK.
This time I tapped the starter with a hammer and it started up easily. Beginning to think it's been the starter all along.

Now every time I run the tractor it starts but I have not used it hard enough to soak a lot of heat into it. Keeping the hammer in the tool box just in case but seems like an odd one if a small tap of the hammer allows it to start. Does the starter seem like the culprit if I can not hear even the solenoid clicking?

I don’t know where you are in Austin, but this is a great place to have a starter or alternator repaired. Roughly at 35 and Rundberg
