Well, I have put about 40 hours on the L3430 I bought a couple months ago, and up until yesterday the float detent worked fine after I figured out with help from this forum (thanks) that it takes a firm push forward to get to float. Yesterday it would not stay in the float detent at all, so I cleaned the spool valve caps that were not too munged up, as my control valve --B00104-- has the caps pointing straight up. Did not help. I noticed the actual detent on the valve "pin" was chewed up just a bit, so this morning I was going to order a new cap and the "pin"( that looks like it can screw off). I cannot find a part number of the pin, (Messicks) so I am assuming it does not screw off easily, and can only be replaced with a total rebuild of the control valve. Any help? Thanks!

First, is this the control valve for rear remotes on the tractor or is this a loader control valve operated with a joystick?
Is your tractor a Cabin or a ROPS unit?

Hi whitetiger, Cab and detent for float on the loader, I should have been more specific.
The joystick in the cab for the loader is connected to the control valve with two push/pull cables.

On both the LA513 and LA723 loader control valves, a Float Detent repair kit is available. The pin just screws into the spool valve.

Thanks for the replies. After soaking the valve caps( with detent balls in situ) in my parts washer for two days and replacing, with no change again, I just guessed and loosened the detent cable so it would push up a tad more into the valve cap, and bingo, that fixed it.
By the way, a question for anyone with a cab similar to my L3430 cab, did you change the mounting of the support of the joystick to stop the interference of the joystick knob with the door pull?
When moving snow, in float, I cannot roll bucket a bit more down for more bite because the knob is against the door pull. Great site, thanks.
