Again, depends what you're doing. A one-time move to your house is doable - pay someone. If it then stays home for everymore, they're practical. If you plan to take it places then it's clearly unworkable.

Looking into the possibility of buying one larger and doing side work. New or used? For tax reasons? I see a lot of this mentioned but no real good explanation. Either pay new price with 0% or way lower price with interest. It seems to work out that it’s still cheaper to buy used.
On the Kubota KX models any difference in cab size between the 030, 033, and 040’s?
This is the sort of thing I'm looking at, a KX-040 with under 2,000 hours. It's easily transported, has relatively low hours, has an hydraulic thumb, angled blade, will have the 2,000 hour service completed, and is a lot cheaper than the new equivalent, and the dealership is awesome. I would have snapped this up already if not for needing to pay off both tractors first.

But people still want silly money for 20+ year old stuff. There's a CAT 426B with 10,000 hours on it locally and the owner wants $30k.
That's nuts.
Again, I don't know your situation, but the fixed costs of a business seems to make operating a part-time business profitably difficult. Insurance especially, lots of customers require it and I wouldn't want to work without it. Especially excavating, hit a little ole fiber, much less a pipeline, and you could be held liable for a bunch.
