I am a bit new to tractors. I have a 4 in 1 bucket on my L47, but I want something that will hold about 19 cubic feet of 3/4- gravel. I have a lot of road to build and want to reduce trips. What is my best option? Or is this even reasonable with a 2800lb limit?

Generally buckets are matched to the tractor, that's not to say you can't go larger but is the extra capacity (if possible) worth the expensive? Why not shape your roads then let hauler spread it for you. I prefer pea gravel while more pricy it doesn't move around as much as 3/4 and I've found it digs into the road bed. As always do as you feel is best.

doing some rough ,early morning math without coffee...
yrd of gravel is about 1.5 tons.
19 cu ft is about 3/4 yard(say heaped...)
so each bucket will be about 2000 #s.
That's less than 2800, but you have to take off the bucket weight.
it sounds like you'd be maxxed out but it's carry it.
BIG questions are how long it the driveway, how deep, wide to figure out number of trips you'll have to make.
Most dump drivers will 'tilt and dump' for you IF there's no low branches, hydro wires.
Normal loads up here are about 15 yards of material BTW.

Yes it’s a fresh road so I have to cut and dump the trucks won’t fit. Thanks for the response

If you are moving enough gravel to warrant spending time and money finding a new bigger bucket, I'd be asking why the gravel truck doesn't dump and spread the gravel where you need it in the first place.

gravel truck ( 'dump trucks') have ZERO traction on ice or mud, at least up here. Kinda funny (not for them) to see them spinning 8 wheels while the BX23S drives on and on.....
It should be 'OK' though for them to dump, you spread down the new road. Next load, they drive on the fresh gravel, dump at the end, you spread, repeat as needed to get to the end of the road.

A yard of 3/4" gravel clocks in at about 2500# so I don't see a problem with weight. That loader will easily handle 2800 lb at transport height. Heaped capacity of the optional round back bucket @350# is 15 cu ft = .55 yard so that bucket and gravel combined is under a ton. If I REALLY needed to bucket large volumes I'd be considering renting a bigger machine. Around here a Case 580 with 1 yard bucket rents for $250/day and $875/week with a $50 hauling fee.. I've rented this machine more than once and it's always been a very cost effective solution for me.

kinda wondering what a 'lot of road' is ? To me 1/2 mile would be a lot of road, to a citybot 100' ! As TOH says, renting a bigger machine might make sense. Job could be done in a day, not weeks.....

Without knowing your project's details, could you use a dump trailer with the tractor to transport the gravel? A hitch on the 3 point to make hitching easier you could move 3 buckets worth pretty easily. It would only work if the distance is great enough to justify the expense.

Would work if he had two tractors. With only one tractor, it would probably take more work, time, and energy to keep unhooking and reattaching the trailer each time, than it would to simply run two extra trips with the tractor itself.

And if you do not have a dump trailer...more time and expense making one available...

Here is a bucket that fits on the 3 point that will help. Back into the pile and load the rear then load the front. Two loads one trip. Is it ideal no but it will help especially if he has a hydraulic top link to help hold the load.

I am sure there are other makers.
