We have an L5030 where our horses are kept. A couple weeks ago, it started fine, then died during operation and would not start. A few hours later, it started again. Tractor would not start for a better than a week, and then started again, and now will not re-start. All levels check fine. Fuel is fine, fuel filter is fine. In the process of checking the fuel filter, when the air cock is opened and engine is cranked, nothing will come from the air cock. did get it to cough and sputter a couple times, but just will not start. Checked all the obvious things, such as contaminated fuel, fuel filter dirty etc, and all appears well. I am a novice, so this is about the limit of my knowledge. IN the attached picture ( I think, is the fuel pump what sticks out above the dipstick, but below the air cock, and in fact could be the problems. Any body have any other thoughts???

When you are having this issue does the engine crank? If not, then look at the heavy cables coming from the battery. On one of the cables there is a connector that can be unplugged. Unplug it and look inside for dirt or corrosion. Also there is a fuse box in the same area with some large amperage fuses, check the fuse sockets for dirt or corrosion.
