Just made 100 hours on the tractor and I am now replacing the clutch. It was burnt up pretty bad, which I’ll take responsibility for. So to avoid burning it up again, what would be some recommendations on how to correctly drive/use the tractor with the implements? I’ve been doing a lot of dirt work, moving piles of dirt then leveling with the loader and land plane. Also been using the grapple to move branches. All my other experience had been on an old Ford 6600 with a straight blade on the front, bush hog work, and chopping food plots, been running that for 25-30 years and never had a clutch issue.

If your going to continue this type of work, a HST is better than a straight gear transmission ...

My suggestion would be to try to use a lower gear/range than you have, and don't "feather" the clutch so much, don't "pop" it, but get it engaged and moving ...

Keep the clutch pedal adjusted according to the manual. Don’t ride with your foot on the pedal. Just be cautious of your foot riding the clutch. That goes for the brake pedal also.

Use a lower gear when going into the pile of dirt, etc.
Shift when the engine is near idle. Not ideal when mowing but fine for dirt work.

It is strange that I’ve seen dozens of tractors around this size that need a clutch with extremely low hours but the owners claim to have years of experience with gear drive tractors?

So ideally I would keep the hand throttle at low rpm’s and use the foot throttle to raise rpm’s when needed. Then only try to use clutch to switch gears?
Main use was going to be cutting fields 15-20 acres of wet over grown fields. But with the old ford never had the option to do as much dirt work.
