A quick question regarding 4wd on the Kubota L4600 HST

I noticed today - tractor is in 4wd mode - operating in a sand lot - only one of the front wheels turns while in 4wd - is this correct ?

Is there true 4wd or like most SUV's that claim to be 4wd - the right rear and left front get power. I know on the tractor I can step on the lever to lock the rear axle so that would give me what ? 3 wd ?

Thanks

Dan

You are correct,Dan. If front end was locked up it wouldnt want to turn, and with a load in a bucket it would be difficult to steer as tires couldnt slip. This would cause things to break. All locked up, good for going in a straight line.

If traction is equal, then power to front wheels is applied equally.
