My fuel gauge has suddenly started working erratically. With the tank full the gauge shows 1/4 tank part of the time, half sometimes, or even empty sometimes. It is a pain going without a gauge, as I am overly careful not to run out of fuel. Does anyone else have a similar problem that there may be an easy fix for?
Thank You

not sure about tractors but the newer ones are probably similar to automobiles.

On my 1998 Nissan Frontier truck I had problems with fuel gauge and then speedometer. Turns out that all sensors go to the computer and then the computer sends information to gauge cluster. My gauges acted similar to what you say, work sometimes, other times give bad info. Mine started not to work at all after some time.

I searched on line and found a service the repairs the cluster. Sent my to the guy on E-bay (I contacted him directly since I am not a E-Bay fan).

Got it back quickly, he fixed and mailed it out the same day he got it, so all the time away was in transit time. Looks like he replaced some Diode on back of dash (has a security sticker over it). If you are electronically minded you may be able to repair it yourself.
