I have been struggling to keep the heater blower motor working in the cab of my L4240 tractor. It is a high hours machine that (from the state of the airways) has seen a lot of dust build up over the years (it is a 2013 machine).
I have taken the roof off along with the top cover of the air conditioning enclosure to take a look. Whilst I can remove the fan impeller it is not possible to remove the motor itself as it appears the fixings for this (and removal) is from below i.e. the cab headlining side.
I have managed to keep the motor limping along by dropping a few drops of oil onto the top bearing and along the motor casing inside enough to run down to the bottom bearing. This does enough to get a working fan (all speeds) for a month or so before it starts to bind (slow up) again.
I really need to change the motor but I do not want to drain the coolant (heater and hoses) nor the air conditioning circuit in order to remove the whole air conditioning module.
Does anyone know of a way to change this motor without such drastic measures?
Thanks

I would think you can drop the headliner on the front right corner enough to drop the fan motor out. Shouldn't require any line disconnections. I have one dropped at home ill look. Man that motor is pricy($525).

You might be right but I was not convinced that would be possible when I was working on it...it seemed as though the headlining was too rigid for that. I did wonder whether cutting a neat hole in the liner would work (and then plugging it) which might actually have some merit for future access/cleaning etc.
I hope you are right in that the corner can be dropped...will safe me a lot of work.
Regarding the price of the motor, I am beginning to realise I have bought into the most expensive of machines to maintain. Kubota want 300 UK pounds for a bare front wheel rim, about five times more than many other makes!
Thanks

Ill get you an answer and a picture tonight. I have a cab with the roof pulled and headliner hanging down.

As far as the wheel. you would probably be better buying as a whole good wheel tire assembly from the dealer. You might be surprised at what you can get the whole thing for.

Headliner drops easily from below. The blower appears to be three screws much like automotive ones. Easy change from below. If you take it down im sure you could find a cheap replacement
