First time trying to loosen retainer ring but it won’t budge. Feels like I’m bending the whole assembly and afraid something’s going to break. Any tips on how to loosen it and which direction to loosen.

First time trying to loosen retainer ring but it won’t budge. Feels like I’m bending the whole assembly and afraid something’s going to break. Any tips on how to loosen it and which direction to loosen.

Right hand thread. - turn left to loosen. A large channel lock pliers should do the job.
