I've found 2 used machines I'm interested in. Ones a 3830 with 350hrs the others a 3540 with 500 hrs. Asking Prices are within 500$ of each other, the same in my book. The 3540 looks brand new, not even the bucket looks scratched. The 3830 is also beautiful, but the buckets been used. Doesn't look abused just normal paint wear from going into piles. They seem to be the same tractor, except the 3540 is the newer version of the 3830. All being equal is one better then the other? Neither have emissions, both nice heavy tractors both have the 700 series loafers and qa buckets with loaded r-4's. Thanks for the input.

Hands down the 3540, I traded my L5030 in on a 5740 to avoid the L60 Series and can hardly believe how much I like the HST+. I was satisfied with the 5030 and it only had 1400 hours on it and in great shape, so I was somewhat reluctant to trade, but I love the HST+.

Thanks. The 3830 was sold Friday and I went Saturday morning. I played with a new 3901 and it was nice but physically I think it's too small especially compared to the 3560 that was next to it. Headed to look at the 3540 tomorrow. Any known issues I should look for?

No issues of which I am aware on the L40 Series. Any new tractor may have a leak or two due to poor setup, but any setup glitches will have been taken care of by now.

I agree, the 3540 is a great unit (a bit biased). She has done me well in everything thus far. No known issues that I know of, and have had her since day one.

Well I hope you guys are right. I put a deposit on it and it should be delivered this coming week. Tractor looks new, only concern is the loader valve was a bit sticky. Dealer was going to take care of it. Said it was from sitting all winter. Doesn't look like any things been on the 3pt hitch.
