I'm rebuilding the front axle and steering of my L275 (4WD/L275DT) but I'm having problems with the steering drag link - the piece with tie rod type ends that goes from the pitman arm to the steering knuckle.
This piece is a single welded assembly (no screw in ends
) and I purchased a "35290-43972 LINK DRAG" some time back but it doesn't fit. The ends are far too large to fit the pitman or the knuckle holes. Tractor serial # is > 10507
Anyone have any ideas on why its not fitting?
Is it possible to cut off and weld new ends on the old drag link - what size ends are needed?
Has anyone built their own steering drag link with threaded ends - where did you get the parts? how did you replicate the odd shape? how critical is the shape?
