With the cooler weather today I started bush hogging a section of my property that I only do around this time of year. Anyway after a couple hours of cutting I took a brake and when I went back to work the PTO would not engage. Upon closer inspection I could tell something was wrong as the PTO shaft was very loose. After taking the plate off the rear you can see from the picture what I found. I am hoping this is an easy fix by just replacing the broken parts. Anyone ever do this before and is it as easy as it appears? The shaft and the adapter piece appear to be fine.

Was the PTO drive line to the bush hog bent or off balance? Looks like the bearing failed at the tractor PTO and then went out and broke the housing. I'd replace the bearing, the housing and seal. I would also drain and flush the transmission case and clean the strainer.
No it was not bent but I just had a first thinning of pine trees last year and there were a couple of stumps that the bush hog hit while cutting and maybe this was the cause. I appreciate the reply, I'm making a list now of the parts I will need.

Hi neighbor, I'm actually in Husser but almost no one I ever heard of it so I just say Loranger since its so close. Today I went and ordered the parts and got the bearing race off the shaft. Parts should be in by Friday.

I know of Husser. Been to White's several times. Even before you had to refinance your house to afford to go there.
