Hello all,
I got an L245dt that have been running without oil in the front axle due to a leaking seal. Fortunately it seems like there's no damage to any gears but the bearings (except the lower ones) were in bad condition.
I have replaced the bearings and seals on both sides, but there are two bearings at the front axle outer end(no. 18 in the attached picture) that i also would like to replace, but I am not sure how to.
Can I just unscrew the bolts and remove the axle housing from the differential housing and pull the housing+axle out without risking making a mess inside the diff?
I got the shop manual, but I can't find this info there so I thought I'd better ask before doing something stupid...
Thanks in advance,
Regs Jonathan
