I am trying to get a bit of background to a tractor we have bought about a year ago. It's decals says its a L2402DT and paperwork says its a 28HP unit, but I am not sure of its origins. I assume it is a 'grey market' tractor but if you look up any of the version/numbering for Kubota, either with Vic or through Kubota, the number doesn't appear listed.

Anybody got any ideas? Is it a genuine Japanese Kubota, imported with valid Kubota numbering or something else? Any idea of vintage etc...

By the way, the tractor is AWESOME. We run it on our 40 acres in southern NSW, Australia and it has already moved about 100 tons of granite as well as landscaping and slashing/mowing. It is a really fantastic unit - Done about 840 hours.

Regards Peter G.

I have one that looks almost identical to yours. It has orange rims, not white.
Yours seems to have an extra set of hydraulics on the bucket. Mine has the rops and seatbelt that I added, same as yours. Mine has a L2202DT decal. 26 hp as far as I know.
Not much info here or elsewhere for these.
The oil and fuel filters are from an early 1970's dodge 360 cu in gas. (fram) easy to get for me.
Not sure yet which air filter.
Awesome tractor, has been very useful to me so far. Looking for more info too.
PM me if you like. I am in Canada.

Hi Peter, these are grey market tractors imported by a couple of dealers here in Australia. I got mine from Sota Tractors in Thomastown Vic.
Look them up on the web. They are good to deal with and supply all parts for them. They will be able to give you details about them. I've had mine for 2 years and think it's a great little machine. Two of my neighbours also have them. Don't try to find a true original manual for them as they don't exist. Really. Kubota don't want to know about them as they are grey market. Enjoy.
