I have an L 2250 4WD with front loader and brush hog attached. For years now I have operated the tractor by mowing for 20-30 minutes then it will bog down as if flooded, sputter then die. It will not restart on following attempts. But, after it sits for two or three weeks it will start again and repeat the pattern. Ive changed fuel filter with no impact on the problem.

Hi,

a Diesel dying is lack of fuel (unless it's faulty, but yours is starting again).

You changed the filter already but that is only part of it. If used little it could be water in the tank, growth of algae in the tank or dirt. Use the search here in the forum, plenty of threads regarding this subject.

Drain, remove and clean tank, clean all fuel hoses and all fuel filters (mine has two). And then use additives if the tractor does not see a good turnover of fuel. Keep tank filled to the top when not in use for longer periods (reduces moisture getting into the tank through "breathing" when air pressure changes).

Also the fuel pump could be the problem if your tractor has one.
