I am running a 5' tiller on my L225 (2wd) and the PTO just stops from time to time. I have the slip clutch on the tiller set the the lightest setting and it does not slip, nut the PTO spline coming out of the tractor actually stops while the PTO is engaged? Is this normal, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, does it hurt anything whe it happens? I till a a lot of gardens and just bought this tractor for the purpose of doing larger gardens, and am concerned that if this is a regular thing, it may not be good for the tractor.

I tilled my own garden to make sure it is working properly before taking her out on the road to go to work, and noticed it. I'm like "A built in slip clutch?" What in the world is this, and is it engaging or working frequently (one every 3-5 minutes) causing harm to the clutch or PTO?

Thanks

The transmission does not slip or let loose, only the PTO. The tractor continues to move on at the set RPM's.

Also, the PTO does not per say "SLIP" , it stops completely. Clink, stops. Push the clutch in and let it out and the PTO is engaged again and works fine for a while until I catch some tree bark or something in the tiller (nothing big persay that even caused the tillers shaft slip clutch to engage even) ,and then the PTO ":stops" again until i lift the 3-point, and/or push in and let out of the clutch pedal.

The clutch pedal free play travel needed adjusted. Works GREAT now, and PTO slip clutch works when it should and PTO stays engaged.

THANKS VIC. Saved me a a possible clutch job.
