Have a 1978 L185DT loader spool valve has seen better days. Would like to replace however a novice with the hydr stuff. So any suggestions on replacement? Kubota wants $650 for a Prince replacement, now that's a little high for me (unless that's really the going rate)
Do not know any spec's on the subject valve, how many GPH . . .
Do not need anything else such as power beyond.

Quick question first before we can answer the GPM's. Are you running an auxiliary hydraulic pump? If yes, then your somewhere between 3.5 and 5 gpm.

If your running off the stock hydraulic pump. Then your running arou d 2.5 to 3.5 gallons per minute.

You can try these people for a spool valve.

As a novice, how do you know you don't need the power beyond feature?

Are there 6 or 7 hoses attached to your current FEL valve block?

Should be 4 on top and 1 coming in on the left and 1 going out to the right. Kubota asked me for 1200 dollars for one on a old 1200 loader. Replaced seals for 6 dollars.

You gave away the answer to the test.

And if the owner comes back saying he has 7 hoses what then?

Good thing I checked back, never get email notification from here (look later)
Using stock pump, 6 hoses; 4 working 2 feed/return, all 6 on top of valve.
So the GPM is really low!
thanks

Well still looking however have found the following;
in/out 7/8 x 14 = #10 while working 9/16x18 = #6
One major design draw back is that all six valves are on the top of valve.
That means one must remove working valves to remove either the in/out, no big deal but all the new units avoid that problem. Looking at a Prince 5200 series at present, will need some adapters.
