L-245 transmission fluid level check

My L-245 2 WD utility tractor has 2 bolts about 2 inches apart screwing into the left side of the transmission, just inboard of the clutch pedal. Both have 12mm heads. One of them is to check tranny/hydraulic fluid level. The other is for????. The picture in my after-market maintenance book is dark and does not show which bolt is the correct one to check fluid level. Fluid pours out of one of them; the other is dry of fluid when I unscrew it. Does anybody know how to find out which is the correct bolt to check tranny fluid level? I am afraid that I have too much or too little fluid in there, either of which could ruin the tractor.

The check level is usually painted orange. But if it's been replaced, then there is no telling what color it is. The other bolt probably doesn't do anything but plug a hole left over from casting.

You can go to kubota.com, click on parts, then illustrated parts list. Then I accept and open on the pdf page. Next page that comes up, type in your tractor Model number using capital letters. Then click on your tractor Model number on the next page. It will bring up a current legible parts breakdown for your tractor

Thanks for the info. I lived in Little Rock for 25 years. I found a picture of the plug where you said, but even blown up real big, I couldn't tell if it was the right hole. The bolt that has fluid behind it is shaped like a normal bolt. The bolt that is dry is about an inch-1/2 long and about the last inch going inboard is very smooth, like a magnet. I checked it and it is not magnetic, however. I'm still not confident to operate the tractor until I am sure it is not low of tranny fluid.

The one that's smooth on the end is a casting plug. The other one with oil behind it is your check level. Should be about 1/2 way up the side of the transmission. I'll post a picture tonight of the one on my L1501
