I've had my G1800 for a few months now. I've always thought it got overspray on it because the upper surfaces have a whitish coating on them. But I have seen pictures of others that are the same way. Perhaps it has a clearcoat on it that discolors due to age and sunlight? Anyone have any thoughts about this or tried to rub it off?

I looked up the G1800 and learned it was discontinued in 2000.
If you purchased it second-hand, I wonder if it sat outside for a long time and the paint chalked.
Maybe post some pictures from different angles.
Otherwise we'd all be guessing

You are correct - the topcoat has oxidized from sitting outside in the sun, buff it out with a polishing compound. Don't over do it being too aggressive and burn down into the paint, use a mild compound, if that doesn't work then ramp it up to a heavier compound.

Give it a good waxing after. (picture is an example off the web - not my car)
Post before and after pictures - we love PICTURES!!!
