PART NUMBERS REQUIRED FOR TOP MOUNTED ALT/DYNAMO INSTALLATION OR MODIFICATION.

These parts are for B5100/6100/7100 models ,or for use with the D650/750/850/950 power units but may have other applications also.

15253-64010 (1) assy dynamo/alt

66704-82810 (1) v-belt
15549-72530 (1) fan-belt
66704-82660 (1) pulley tension
08121-06301 (2) bearing ball
66704-82750 (1) support tension

01053-50616 (2) bolt
01023-50616 (2) bolt
66704-82620 (1) bracket

The parts number listed above are the parts you will require , but, I have omitted some washers/nuts and bolts as they are not specific parts or sizes and are easy to obtain elsewhere and probably cheaper, any nuts/bolts above will be specific to the install either by thread size or spec etc.

Depending on what engine you will be fitting these parts too there is another important part you may need, it is a longer cylinder head stud for the front corner nearest the injector pump.
The standard stud is not long enough to facilitate the fitting of the cylinder
head part of the mutlipart mounting bracket, and it is not a standard metric thread, you’ll need to know what size stud you have before ordering this part.
Part number coming shortly.

You may also require alternate fittings for the thermostat bypass , as the brass fittings on water pump and thermostat housing need to be angled so as to move the hose back out of the path of the belt, same here , it depends on what you currently have fitted to your setup, it is very likley yours will be straight.

I will update these part numbers shortly.
I have added diagrams of the parts for reference purposes and installation assistance etc, you will be able see what plain fittings are required also.

It would appear that stocks of some of these parts is very low, several parts are down to just a couple in japan, and when they are gone, that’s it.

I am currently considering fabricating some aftermarket kits similar to this setup which will be a retro fit in the same manner, but it depends on order quantities etc, also what spec alternator setup required.

Any interest drop me a line, I hope this is of some help.

Regards
Rob

Hi Rob,

Thanks for updating the list.

We have one bad part number which is 04152-50100 (2) washer spring. Comes up as part not found...

For those interested in relocating your alternator, the total price for everything on Rob's list is $818.58! Kubota and their gold-plated parts... sigh... I think one could save about $100 if one bought the alternator off eBay.

I entered everything into Messick's website to get the price.

Good luck,

Steve

PS - Thanks again for listing everything out!

Thanks for the reply steve, that price does look about right after i did the conversion £ to $ , and yes it is a bit , lets just say "steep"

I have been doing some calculations on what the cost would be if i was
fabricate the parts into a kit form instead of having to buy the parts for kubota as single parts.

I would need to source probably only one part from kubota but the rest i could out source from local suppliers and build the kits myself.
cost wise they would probably about half the kubota price, or maybe a tad under half price.
As for the dynamo/alternator, they are quite cheap over here as refurbs of new purchases.
I am about to replace the 35Amp unit that came as standard fitment on my 7100with a 45amp unit as i have a suitable unit on the shelf at present.
It has a built in regulator so i can do away with the bulkhead external reg fitted at present.

The brackets etc are not that difficult to fab to be honest, so a big saving could be made by a self build .

I have had several enquiries about kits but i dont really want to start making them up unless i get a good few firm orders to start with.

Does anyone here have the ability to manufacture a mounting kit for a GM one wire alternator, the type with the internal voltage regulator. That would make for a really nice modification.

For $29.99 at my local auto parts store I think that it would be a relatively inexpensive modification to the electrical system. That alternator (85 Chevy C10 305cid) is rated at 61 amps.
