Ok so I am new here, great forum and very informative.

I (well the family) own(s) a L235, it has a few issues due to lack of maintenance/wear and tear, namely it is extremely hard to start.

I replaced the Glow plugs and Injectors, but it still puffs black smoke and wont start. ( I have found a few things on this forum that I will check out today)

Meanwhile I came across a relatively new D1105-E motor, I was hoping to buy it to install in the L235, but after reading I have determined this is probably not likely.

Now the guy only wants $600 for the complete motor, do I go ahead and buy it? I know that the B2400 came with a D1105, what else is this motor likely to fit?

How much trouble would I have finding a new home for it?

Thanks

Your symptoms sounds like you are loosing compression. I've got an old Ford with a perky diesel that does the same thing, and if it ain't 55+ degrees she doesn't fire at all. Usually have to mist a little starting fluid until 75+. She's old and tired, and blows a ton through the blowby, but she still runs, and probably isn't worth a rebuild. Use extreme caution with starting fluid. Use a light mist when you are turning over to try to prevent pre-ignition of the fuel. Never spray a bunch in and then try to start, as you'll get a big gulp of the stuff right at first and can likely blow a hole through the side of your motor.
