I am new to this forum and would first like to say hello to everyone. Secondly I am having a hydraulic problem that has me confused. I have a L3410 HST with a loader. when I use the loader to lift the front end of the tractor or lift a heavy load hydraulic fluid leaks from the front of the pump where it bolts to the housing. I pulled the pump, checked for play in the shaft (was none) and replaced the seal. Thought my problems would be solved but I was wrong. fluid still leaks between housing and pump. My question is could there be something else maybe causing the pressure to be to high for the pump seal to handle.

Sounds more like you have a hairline crack in the pump housing, unless you replaced a bad seal by putting the new one in backwards, (it happens to everyone).

I am not sure how the pump mounts on your model but I would think a seal leak would not show externally.

Best Regards

thanks for the reply south 40. The pump mounts to a housing mounted to the engine, there is an o-ring between them. New housing, new o*ring. Hydraulic fluid made it to the crank case and under load makes it leak between the pump and housing. I put the seal in the same way the old one came out so I dont think that is the problem. Im just wondering if maybe the relief valve isnt working right or maybe something else is causing pressure to be high and overtake the seal. The pump is over $850 so im trying to work my way up to replacing the pump. I would hate to replace it only to find it wasnt the problem. I also thought about a hairline crack and inspected for that.
