got a l4300dt with the fluid level window. Well it’s fogged or discolored and I can’t see fluid anymore. How to fix this or at least check the hydronic level

You can add red dye to the hydraulic system or you can replace the sight glass.

For replacement, get on a side slope angle where the oil goes to the other side.

John Deere makes a red dye, https://shop.deere.com/us/product/MT3668:-Hydraulic-Oil-Dye-Fluid,-D-50,-12-ml/p/MT3668

Only need 1/2 or even 1/4 bottle, it's only 12ml but 1/2 a bottle turns mine really red...

Is the fluid gauge on the back of the tractor? (vs. the side of the transmission?)

Are you sure that your fluid isn't low and below the window or high and above it ? If you haven't already done it find a steep hill And check it with the front low and/or with the front high. It's very hard to tell what your looking at if the oil level isn't in the window.

For 20 bucks, just get the "JD red dye" and be done with it.

I would add that, I agree with @old and tired that you only need a small amount.

(However, the thought of having ANOTHER “partial" bottle of “such and such” taking up more space, contributing to the already insane clutter on my shelves….I just poured the whole damn thing in, so I could “in good conscious” throw it way……:) YMMV)

It helped me see the fluid after I sanded the metal dipstick to create a "grain".

I lay the dipstick flat against a clean, dry paper towel, then turn it on edge. The paper towel absorbs the oil and witnesses the level, which is now easy to read.
