So stupid me decided to top of the high pressure gear oil in my 55" snow blower. The oil comes in a bottle with a long neck and a little cap like show in the attached picture. Well stupid me forgets to pull the cap off before sticking the end in the 1/2" oil fill hole and before I know it the cap falls of and drops in the gear box chamber.
So I pulled the snow blower off the kubota, got turned upside down and drained all the gear oil, hoping the cap would fall out. No such luck. I've rotated the gears back and forth by hand, used high pressure air to try to blow it out, tried using a little springy grabber thing, and the cap is still somewhere in the gear chamber.
So my options now are to fill it back with oil, let the gears chew up the cap and then drain and refill the oil, or take the gear box apart which I really really don't want to do.
So does anyone have any opinion on if letting the gears chew up the plastic cap (about the size of a small fingernail) would do any damage to the gearbox?
Thanks,
Dumbass John
