Kubota makes a mulching kit for my MMM it's not cheap at close to $800

I cut my grass short and hate raking grass it as it takes just as long to rake as it does to mow.

I have ran into issues where i mow so much grass that the mower bogs down unless i raise the mower or mow with the side discharge up.

I drilled a hole in the discharge shoot and hooked a bungie to the loader frame. The shoot is just above level with the ground so it still provides protection and sprays the grass out enough not to leave hay rows of cut grass. It will leave heavy spread out rows in the spring if I don't mow often enough but I've never had the tractor bog down because of it. Like you I don't like to rake and I'm not about to rake 1-3/4 acres.

I'd go with a bagger or a tow-behind if I had to choose, but the cost verse benefit isn't there for me.

Golf greens aren't cut with mid-mounts and 3 point finishing mowers. I suggest you beg, borrow or rent a flail before soaking $800 into trying to make the mmm do something it wasn't designed for.

I started mowing with the deflector up and it spreads the clippings so I don't hardly notice them. I wouldn't recommend doing it unless you have wide open spaces for safety reasons.

This isn't a criticism: The grass isn't being mowed often enough.

To not stress the grass no more than 1/3 of the height should be mowed at a time, so basically you want to mow off 10% to 25% of the blade, and that shouldn't cause bogging nor discharge issues. It's either "the wrong grass" because it grows "to long, too well," or it's the wrong maintenance plan.

That's why golf courses don't need to sweep even though they use a reel mower, which doesn't cut grass clippings multiple times like a mid-mount does. Flail mowers will cut tall grass though like reel mowers won't leave as clean of discharge as mid-mount.

The solution is simply use sharp blades and raise the deck to mow less grass, then come back a few days later and repeat the process, and keep doing it until the grass is where you want it in height, then mow often enough to keep it that height.

Do I always mow often enough? Nope. Life gets in the way, and sometimes the grass gets too long and the results aren't what I want, and that's unfortunate, but I should have mowed sooner.

Yes. I put them on my RCK60 deck.

First attempt was with the Q'doba mulching blades. Unsatisfactory.

Second attempt was with the G6 blades. Better but it spit the fines out in front of the deck. I had clibbins infesting the rad screen and collecting between the muffler and the grille.

Mulching baffles now occupy one corner of the shop.

I can now cut grass at 2500rpm as opposed to 3200rpm.
