I'm looking to get a grapple for my L3560 and noticed they are offered in single or double lid. What benefit is one over the other?

Also I have noticed some are called grapple's and some are called root grapple's, again what's the benefit of one over the other?

I have the 3rd function kit already, I just have to install it.

People are all over the map on this, there was recently a very long discussion on another tractor site and there was no consensus on which is best. I like the double lid as it can conform better to irregularly shaped loads, my brother is happy with his single lid on a grapple bucket.

Root grapple will have longer lower tines than rock bucket or others, so it depends on your intended use.

Everything Attachments has some good videos and there are lots from individual users on You Tube.

I've only been using grapples for a couple of years and am by no means extremely knowledgeable. I have a great relationship with the owner of my Kubota dealer and when I asked him for his advice, he offered to show us his four he uses on his farm, so we liked them and bought a couple and he isn't even a dealer for them.

Ok I'm going with the double lid E/A Wicked Root Grapple.

My problem is that I am having a hard time deciding on which one. Do I go with the one for Compact Tractors or the one for Large Compact and utility tractors? One say's "Ideal for Compact Tractors up to 55 HP"
and the other say's "Ideal for Large Compact and Utility Tractors up to 75 HP"

Again my tractor is a L3560 which is a 35hp tractor.

Which would you get and why? I know there is a weight difference but not sure how much. I am looking at the 72" model.

I'd go with the first on an L3560. I tried to get by without spending a lot of money and bought one I could swap between our L5740 and M8540. It worked OK, but the extra weight on the GL made it ride really rough and the extra width was just too much.

After a year, I bought a smaller, lighter one for the L5740 and really like it.

I am certainly no expert on this, but I'd probably go with a 66" on a L3560, extra width makes them a bit more awkward to get in some places and just isn't needed.

i also have the 3560. i am a first time tractor owner. i ordered my single lid grapple ( the one up to 55hp). I ordered from everything attachments in n.c. you should call them and ask for travis in sales. they ship free within 1000 miles. i was out of the range and only paid 60 dollars in shipping!! it is good to talk to them because they ask where your 3rd function valve couplers are and that way they can send the correct length hoses. i like the single lid because it saved me money over the 2 lid one. i watched their videos on youtube and was sold on that single lid. travis can answer all your questions. it takes a few weeks to ship out though. they make them here in the usa in their shop. you can check out their shop on youtube by searching everything attachments tour of shop.
