Hey everybody. Recently purchased a L4700 w/L765 loader and want to clear vines out of a lot of trees on my property, question is, what type/brand of claw would y'all recommend for the job. Been eye balling the LP sgc 15 series. Any thoughts/advice/experiences? Thanks in advance.

No help with grapple but I too had Wisteria vines taking over a 1/2 acre section of woods. i started out cutting vines near the ground, some 3 to 4 inches across that grew to the tops of 80' to 100' pines this was slow.

I then turned to a controlled burn, a slow burn backing into the wind and it provided great results. All vines died that extended into my trees. The only draw back was the vines growing under the leaf litter survived. But I am ok with them being on the ground all are small and I will follow up next year with another burn with hopes it will kill the ones on the ground.

Trees in this section are mostly pines and do well with fire long as it is not too hot the reason I backed it into the wind as opposed to building it to burn with the wind which would have resulted in a hot fire rolling through my woods.

Maybe fire could be your answer.

Another thing I had to consider was my vines were wrapped around the trees and when I used my leader with straps tied to vines were unable to pull them and the ones I did came crashing down, not good!

Fire worked best for me.

Good luck.
