I posted this a few years back but felt the need to post it again. I just bought a new GR 2120 to replace my 7 or 8 year old one. the first one was pretty slow backing up and almost impossible on an incline. While servicing it I note that the Main arm on the HS lever was loose where it attached to main shaft going into the HS. I could actually slide the arm on the shaft using a long flat bladed screwdriver. I pulled the rear tire off and it is a real b-tch to access the set screw that was loose. I tightened the screw and it made a substantial difference both forward and reverse. Like 3x on reverse.
OK so The first time I use the new unit I immediately noted the same slow issue in reverse. Sure enough the same set screw was loose. Tightening it again resulted in substantial improvements.
So, what are the chances two units 7 years apart would have the same exact problem?? Pretty slim I'd guess.
So if you have a GR with a slow reverse you might want to check that set screw. it tightens on a flat area of the shaft so being loose is limiting the speeds in both directions.
It is not easy to get to. I used a 1/4" hex bit with a 4mm allen on the end and a 1/4" wrench.🍻
